I've finished painting Rebellion:

Not quite as laborious as War of the Ring...

Awesome!

Kudos to your efforts.

In case you would like to share how you did it, I would be interested in reading it. Time estimate would be nice to.

Considering putting the effort in to it, but it is a daunting task and I'm hesitant to begin with it.

I'm looking for an easy table-top ready approach.

cheers,
Alwin

I used Citadel paints (water based, bought from Games Workshop).

I started by priming black or white (with Citadel spray) depending on which colour scheme I intended.

I then painted the main colours on one type of model. Some models have just one or two colours (AT-ATs) some have as many as seven or eight (rebel troopers).

Finally some models were given a dark wash and some a dry brushed highlight.

All in all perhaps 12 hours spread out over several sessions.

Thanks!

One question. Did you wash all the models before applying the primer or just primed them straight out of the box?

If you didn't go through the trouble of washing everything I will save myself the hassle

cheers,
Alwin

If you are new to painting you might want to check out the painting guide that Games Workshop sells. It goes through all relevant equipment and techniques in some detail.

Thanks for the tip.

I'm not new though. I know that it is recommended to wash models because of the stuff added to release mini's from the mold.

If you didn't bother with this though, I will skip it since your stuff looks awesome.

I have to admit I usually don't bother to wash models before painting unless they feel greasy. I've only experienced paint not sticking well enough once. In that case it could also have been due to very large surfaces with no detailing.
