Are there any limitations on which types of checks can be assisted?

Page 23 of quick start states:
Quote:
You can spend your action to assist another character
in their action. The dif culty to assist is 8 with the same skill as the character you are assisting is using. For example, you want to assist a pilot. You need to make a piloting skill check of 8. If you succeed, they get +1 on their check. A character can benefit from at most one assistance. Assisting can be done without remote penalty to an adjacent character or one taking a battlestation action at a different battlestation in the same module as you. Copilot anybody?

Based on this you should be able to assist for anything, but the target will only get one benefit.

So if you're shooting your blaster,
someone can assist you in shooting your blaster?

How does remote penalty occur when not dealing with a battlestation (I. e. non-adjacent characters)?

i think the remote penalty only applies to battlestation actions. otherwise you have to be adjacent to assist.

Someone could be "assisting" by yelling "He's over there ... SHOOT HIM!"

Remote penalty is only for battlestation actions as they are the only thing you can do remotely.

Haha, okay okay.

I think it's funny to have two crew huddled together,
working out the use of a puny blaster together.

Never assist someone else with a grenade... disagreements and high explosives will never end well....

And as always with Battlestations, if you don't want to allow it... don't. There are no tournaments to follow the same set of rules so get out there and have fun!

Haha, no way - keep barring to a minimum;
so long as we understood correctly.

It's just a funny situation is all;
on of the perks of the game : j
