I wanted to be sure I'm playing with the latest/greatest rules. Are the ones under the "files" section on this site the most updated rules?

Thanks.

Alan Emerich's living rules can be found here.

Oh no! It looks like his domain registration expired...

Depends on what version you have...However; they're all very similiar except for some advanced rules. Still one of my top go to games.

I have a set that has three rules booklets: "Basic Rulesbooklet"; "Advanced Rules"; and "Optional Rules and Scenarios". It lists Frank Chadwick as the designer. Phalanx Games, 2001. Is that the latest?

This is the latest version http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgameversion/156405/english-fou...
Published in 2012...not that good IMHO.
This version is considered the best, most recent one:

Also, you can check the files section for variants and other rules changes. Basically, the main change that I recall was in not allowing cavalry to cut rail lines...not a real game changer though. Still a great, easy game...

It's not the latest...but, it's probably the best. Other versions have mistakes on the map and added some not very functional chrome.

I think the 4th edition is better, functionally. The Phalanx edition has some annoying terrain errors on the board and usability takes a back seat to aesthetics.
