One issue that might bother some people with the collectible aspect of A&A WAS is the matter of duplicates. For aircraft and subs, this is not a problem at all since these were essentially mass produced. Larger warships (destroyers and up) may present some concern. However, given that most warships of WW2 were members of multi-ship classes, having duplicates is not necessarily a problem at all. To aid the player who wants to know what sister ships were available to further their immersion into the theme of the game, here is a list of the major ships (destroyers and larger) included in the game and their sisters (and near-sisters or potential sisters):

This second post will cover the vessels of the United States Navy (the first post covered the Australian, French, and UK fleets). I hope to cover the other fleets in future posts, but if someone out there wants to step up and do the honors, by all means go for it!

Excellent post to have available, and not just for A&A. Do you have a particular source that you used for this information?

Hi Sag - yes, I'm using Jane's Fighting Ships of World War II. An excellent source for information on ships of all navies from that conflict. I don't know if it's currently in print (picked my copy up 10 years ago), but may be available used on eBay, Amazon, or at used bookstores like "Half-Price Books".

That was my guess, but I didn't want to toss it out without giving you a chance to respond first. Thanks for taking the time to compile a summary.

If you are looking for something with a little more detail in it, try and get a hold of the various Conways references.

Yes Conway's all the world's fighting ships is the best reference for this time period. When I was doing RC warship combat it was referred to as the bible.
