Back again
I think I'm getting old as I used to be good on rules queries whistle

Okay
One engine out when loaded means out of formation and spending two turns in each zone until bombs are dropped
Then return to one zone per turn still out of formation
Simple

But
When does the two turns begin ?
In the zone where the engine is lost ?
So you don't move out the zone yet ..

Or do you move one more zone and spend two turns there ?

Thoughts ?

Usually bad effects (or good, i.e. tight formation) start in next zone.

For instance, as noted in the rules, if you loose an engine in the target zone you may still bomb the target and stay in formation after that.

Edit: and in your case, you may jettison your bombs to stay in formation. I thinks it's allowed.

But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you… And I will beat you.

That was always my understanding. Jettison the bombs and stay in formation.

I'm in zone 8
One engine just gone due to oil leak fire
Bombs aboard

If I now move zone 9, it's still one turn and I can drop bombs on target n stay in formation ?

so the sequence would be...

Zone 8
attacked by enemy fighters,
lose an engine,
bombs aboard,
fall out of formation after resolving all enemy attacks,

spend two turns while bombs aboard but effects begin next zone i.e zone 9 target zone

move zone 9
resolve fighters
drop bombs
turn for home
now back to one turn per zone

but still continue out of formation till base

Agreed. The break you get is being able to spend only 1 turn in zone 8 where you lost the engine. As you enter zone 9 you are now slowed down and still many miles from a potential drop point.

Good luck!!

Normally I would agree
but
as per errata #17 on the back of the orange card
A B-17 is never required to spend more than 2 turns/zone

this leads me to believe that the B-17 and crew are in luck because it is the target zone and you are already required to spend 2 turns there..
one before bombing, one after bombing..

so apart from out of formation, as per earlier ....?

cheers
mike

Thank you Jim

Luck is indeed in short supply as I rolled 3 enemy waves upon entering zone 9 for my first turn before bombing...

Ugh! That's the way it goes some days for sure.

As a side note, having never been to the UK, I used Google Earth to view Rochford. Looks like the airport in your area has several pill boxes around the RAF airport there. Very cool!

To target zone as one zone
Then turn round
Back home as a different zone
If that makes sense
I have always played it like this ,,,,is this right

Jim

Yes rochford was just a grass airfield during the war
The bridge over the main road "warners bridge" is where my dad stood as a ten yr old boy watching spitfires and hurricanes taking off and landing during the Battle of Britain
There's a pillbox right beside the bridge too as well as around the whole area
He often recalls the time he watched a ME 110 making an emergency landing on the airfield as the German pilot tried to save his crew
I believe a Polish squadron flew from there at one point.

My dad is full of stories of his time in Southend during the war etc, as 90% of the children were evacuated away, but my dad stayed as his mum had 3 sons already away fighting, he was the youngest and she wanted at least one at home
God Bless them all

Amos
2.2 states the strategic board is divided into concentric zones
There is only one of each zone
When you turn round in a target zone it is still the same zone but a second turn
The weather is the same for both turns in one zone.

The sample mission in the back of the rule book states as turn 5 is entering zone 5
Turn 6 is remaining in zone 5 rotating the B-17 around to point toward England

It does not move to another zone 5
