Note: This review is for Super 5, which is apart from the name and some differently named terms identical in gameplay to Five Alive.

Super 5 is a simple, fast paced card game for up to five players. The players take turns playing cards with different values from 0 to 7. These add up, and if you bring the total sum up above 21, you lose one "life", and if one player runs out of cards, all other players lose one life. To shake things up, there are also a number of special cards, that can skip your own turn, skip the next players turn, make all other players draw cards, set the sum to a set total, or reverse the direction of play. There are also two extra-special cards of which there are one one each in the deck. These are the redeal card, which shuffles all players cards in a big pile and deals them out again randomly, and the Death card, which forces all other players to discard a 0 card or lose one life.

As I said, this game is fast paced, and easy to learn. Its a great game to just pick up and play between longer gaming sessions, or while waiting for something. There's a fair bit of strategy involved, particularly involving the Death and Redeal cards.

All in all, I'd say this is a great all-round game that all gamers should have access to and keep in their arsenal for when some fast and easy fun is required. 7 out of 10 stars.
