That sounds awful. 130,000 people is 129,999 too many.

Comic-Con hasn't been about comics in a long time. It's movie and TV Con.

If you want to go to a real Comic Convention, try the NYCC. Nearly as big, and it hasn't been morphed into something else yet.

Whats the revenge aspect? It's also become a way more mainstream and media thingy. Most of the blitz seems to be regarding upcoming movies & tv anyways.

ComicCon attendees? I think they would need the same number of condoms as those dispensed at a nunnery.

As if people here were any less "nerdy" when these cons have long since embraced board games as well. But, please, keep going with the jokes whistle

It just sounds like absolute shit. Pay a lot, and with thwt mob maybe see one or two things you like and be crushed the rest of the time in the tide of human flesh. Flash over substance.

NO, they can be more open about their drug abuse.

Honestly, as long as you aren't interested in any of the big hall events, its pretty fun. Definitely crowded! But not overwhelmingly crushing, never get to see anything level.

That's because we know it is our duty to the human race to outbreed the non-geeks with their obsolete wetware. Condoms impede that goal.

Agreed.
As of 2015, a lot of the media surrounding SDCC discusses how badly "the world's biggest con" has or has not sold out to corporate interests. To the point where it's basically used as glorified corporate advertising instead of having anything to do with fandom. Basically the cosplayers & fans are being used as stooges for mega-conglomerates to make $$$.

I haven't done a con in years. I don't really want to stand on a concrete floor for 3 days and pay $1000 for the table.

But back when I did, my favorite was always Mid-Ohio.

Nice even mixture of serious comic business and movie and TV stuff.

Plus it was never so busy that you couldn't hang out in the bar. Got to shoot a few rounds of pool with Peter Mayhew and Mike Edmunds.

Also if you want to go next year, you should have booked your hotel last week, otherwise you are staying out in El Cajon.

Well In my experience of Comic con in the Uk there are more women and the average age is rather younger than a board game convention. But carry on with your lack of self knowledge everyone.

The trick I learned was is get in line early to the main venue (Hall H), and stay the entire day. Got to see Quentin Tarantino, Christophe Walz Benecio Del Toro, Robert Downey Jr., all in one day. Other days can catch the smaller lectures, panels which aren't as crowded (like the one for Archer). That being said, definitely a ONCE in a lifetime experience

Heh, I wonder how badly CBS and Paramount (pitching the new Star Trek film and TV series) are going to be grilled by furious uber-trekkers.

Happy 50th anniversary indeed.
