This is coming from a definitely-casual player, so take it for what it's worth. With this game, though, I don't really see a need to make more unique squadrons. A lot of steps in rules have been taken to prevent Squadrons from becoming too dominant, and I'd worry that if too many unique squadrons were introduced that they could become a bit too much of a factor in games.

Of course, more competitive players may see it differently

In other words - is there a possibility in the minds of the readers of this post that FFG may come out with more unique squadrons at some point?

FFG may come out with another character ace squadrons pack at some point but if so I can't imagine you'd need to buy more than one (for the character aces included) and that's not a big deal.

I would strongly recommend having at least two each of the Rebel and Imperial squadron packs. Having access to 4 of the non-core squadrons can be very useful for fleet-building. You may not ever need or use 4 TIE Advanceds (or 10 TIE Fighters, or 8 X-Wings) but you can easily make use of 4 A-Wings, Y-Wings, B-Wings, TIE Interceptors, and TIE Bombers.

To my mind, obviously, FFG will sell more squadron packs.
FFG is a wallet swallower, and it will never change. Well... I won't complain... I enjoy most of their games.
So we will see other expansion packs, for sure. Armada, X-Wing, are monney magnets.

More squadrons are certain. It is just a matter of whether or not they are new types of squadrons or not.

The only new unique squadrons guaranteed are the few that will come with the Correlian Conflict campaign box.

Also, pretty safe bet that the new fighters in Rogue One are going to make it to this game.

We can make this news ...

https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/225046-correl...

Corellian Conflict Campaign[!] discussion thread from FFG.

Image provided and the rumors, rumblings, and ruminations from Star Wars Celebration and other events ... with the FFG panel.

If this is real, I can't add enough of these ->

*Edit*
Totally missed the other News thread discussing this. Still getting used to BGG putting "hot" threads separate from the rest ...

I think the shuttles would be quite nifty if they could provide an admiral transport from one capital ship to the next. I know it would be tricky to pull off in a 6-round game, but having a squad-level shuttle transport could allow a player the opportunity to save the fleet admiral if the flagship is soon-to-be lost.
