So you know how we all (broadly) feel about Monopoly?

I think This guy disagrees.

I think it's a pretty cool thing to collect. He never plays most of them so it's just like collecting anything else. However I still kind of enjoy Monopoly once or year or so, along with Risk, Clue, and the other highly looked down upon games.

Several years ago (I haven't continued though I still have them), I began collecting international versions of Monopoly. I think it's so cool to see various landmarks/locations and how they are valued based on the space they are given in the game. Congrats to him!

Despite your hope, there is not even any inherent symbolism; gravity is simply a coincidence.

We all love board games. This guy just likes one game in particular and collects all its declinations. I don't think it's better or worse than collecting a game and its multiple expansions.

Shouldn't he have to register it as a licensed toxic waste dump?

Same reason people collect star wars dolls. Collectors comes in all different shape and form, some like seashells, some like vintage video games, etc.

A quote from the article:

"Neil, who admits to never having played the game for at least 20 years"

Maybe not! Even the most avid collector became bored with playing them
