I'm looking for medieval themed games (EDIT: and post-medieval up to 19th century) in which players build their tableau with tiles of various shapes. A great example is Princes of Florence (I am talking only about the tiles, not the auction). Ideally the game should work well in solo or with 2 players.

Do you have any suggestions?

Patchwork

Just imagine it's cloth and wooden buttons from the medieval ages.

Never played it, but maybe Castles of Mad King Ludwig might also interest you. Or Cathedral.

You build on a common central board instead of a personal area, but Arkadia has a medieval setting and Tetris-like pieces. It works well enough with two players.

Thank you for the suggestions! I've played Castles of Mad King and it is my absolutely favorite game.

Not much medieval though

Saying "medieval" I actually meant to include anything that has to do with kings, castles and palaces, which would be the time period up to 19th century. I realize now that medieval is just until 15th century. My bad

No worry, I was just teasing And I can definitely see where you come from.

In terms of tetris-like games, the only one I know of are Patchwork, Blokus, Ubongo, and Castles of mad king Ludwig. Beside castles, not much medievalty in there though I fear blush
