Initially it is easy to lose to the defcon. A few times both people have both gone out together. With growing experience games go the full three rounds.

I've only played a handful of times and most end after all three rounds; I managed to push my all three of my opponent's pieces into Defcon 2 in one game.

90%+ end after all 3 rounds. Defcon endings are usually draws, and not one side losing in my games.

Losing due to Defcon drops drastically once you're 5+ games into it.
