Any good strategies? I have a decent win ratio at other State of Siege games but this game is kicking my behind. I find it a lot harder than Ottoman Sunset - I win that game about 1/4 times.

My strategy so far is to put at least +1 DRM in each off-map theater, fight like mad to keep the Carpathian army behind the fortress, and remove the Polish front as soon as I can once the expanded war starts. I'll put some resources into propping up the Croats and Hungarian factions but just leave the Czech's in state a of revolt as there are usually fires to put out elsewhere.

It seems like in this game the stars have to align perfectly to have any hoping of winning.

Hi,

I have found that too about HE. It seems as though you are using some
sound stratagies. Tell me, what usually leads to your defeats: Armies
entering Vienna, National Will collapse or ethnic revolt?

Don't forget that having any group in revolt has effects on the battlefield, and you may need Czech loyalty in dealing with the Russians.

Tim.

I usually try to keep the Czechs loyal for as long as possible.
I'm less concerned about the Croats and Hungarians since if they slide
into revolt, it should be easier to restore their loyalty.

Once you're given the opportunity to place the Bulgarian Trench Line,
you should do so(as I'm sure you do); the allied Balkan Front can cause
major headaches in the game.

Try to preserve your Mackenson and Radio and German Aid markers, and commit them when they'll make the biggest difference (like during the
Brusilov Offensive)

In terms of off-map battles and national will, try to max-out your
off-map resources. The off-map system in HE is very different from the
one in Ottoman Sunset. There are more battles, and there are battles
where your off-map resources will have zero effect, and the general
feeling is is that HE is a harder game to win in the SoS family. But, with each new game, we do our best while we hope for good die rolls and
at least marginally manageable card draws.

Keep Fightin'

Tim.

Yes, don't allow the Czechs to be cancelled.
