When we first moved in, I saw sprues in the recycling dumpster. Today, buried, I saw something with the words "Greenland card game." So, I'm looking for ideas to find out which neighbor it is and see if they are up for playing together. These are alley-way dumpsters that cover several homes.
Thanks.

Start knocking on doors and bake cookies or something for an ice-breaker.

Host a game night and put an invitation on every neighbor's mailbox.

And don't get caught dumpster-diving after a neighbor dumps their trash in it.

Hide in the dumpster and jump out when they throw another game away.

Set a trap. Tie a rope to an empty game box, and place it on the ground near the dumpster. Tie the other end of the rope to a pipe or fire hydrant. Check back in a couple of days, and you will likely find you gamer, unable to let go. This works especially well with an out of print game box.

Easy, start throwing out some gaming related things too. They will see the empty boxes, get excited, and start their own thread.

It's always best to find those who want to be found.
If I were you, I'd start with one of these:

Metro East Gamers Events - St Louis Area
The St. Louis Boardgames Meetup Group

You might also check to see whether there's a sign-up list at the closest game store.

Since there's a dumpster, I'm assuming apartment complex or condo?

What about signs advertising a neighborhood game night in the laundry room? Check with your property manager for permission, too. Or even better, invite them first.

Maybe this boardgamer is on BGG.
If this is the case you can go to the top menu, look under "Misc" then "Find Users". Once there you can do a Zip code search or a google maps search.

Joe you have made us laugh and I love it. Unfortunately I have the luck of Wile E Coyote and my trap would probably backfire.

Reading the thought the rest of you posted got me thinking that maybe I can write a note on a cardboard box saying something like our address plays board games and are always open to guests.

We are all single family homes, but the city provides alley dumpsters for all trash, lawn clippings and recycling. We tried 2 local stores when we first moved, but they are Magic and Star Wars.

I knew about the Saint Louis meetup, but in the middle of our move in April, our truck was totaled and our new car didn't arrive until last week. Their stuff was too far to walk to. We are looking forward to the next one on their calendar.

Awesome! I did not know that was possible.

That is creepy

Not really. You have to opt-in to be included in the "Find Gamers" database.

I recommend bringing around trays of Carcassonne brownies and see who reacts.

Print a picture of a giant meeple on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper. Write your apartment number at the bottom. Tape it to the dumpster.

Whatever you do, don't follow Mr. Glass' methodology from "Unbreakable". They probably won't survive.
