I run a local con still in its infancy; it might be more appropriate to simply call it a gathering at this point, as my games library is its main games library, but I'm working on that.

The problem I'm working on resolving is that very little in my collection is truly kid friendly. I'd love to rectify this, but I need some help in determining what games to add. I have a few basic requirements, although if you want to go outside of that, feel free to do so as long as you can justify it:

1. It needs to be in print, because I don't relish the thought of spending $100 on a kids' game.
2. It should be suitable for at least some portion of the 5-12 year old range.
3. Preferably, the kids can play without direct adult oversight.

Many thanks for any suggestions you might have!

My wife is a guidance counselor at an elementary school and she uses games to help the kids open up. Here are the ones she says work well.

Animals Upon Animals
Push A Monster
Chef Alfredo
Ghost Blitz
Rhino Hero
Me Want Cookies

I would add a vote for Dragonwood and Maze Racers (though the latter is only for two players so that might not be a good fit for your intended purposes)

Also Rat-a-Tat Cat. I adored, adored, adored that game when I was little. I played it sooooooo much.

In general Gamewright games are a great call. I played a lot of them when I was little and really enjoyed them. They have a great selection. Their website gives you a good idea of the age ranges for each game. And the quality is top, top notch.

Also it goes without saying a copy of Twilight Imperium because children should be taught early to take over the universe ;-) (Just kidding)

Anything from the 'yellow box' range by Haba.

Tier Auf Tier (animal upon animal)
Socken Zocken (Sock Monster)
Sushi Go (fast and furious for older kids)
Looping Lewie (or Chewie - the new Starwars themed version)
Buccaneer (older kids really)

I'll have a look at home at some point, but these are the ones which occur immediately.

Thank you all very much for the suggestions! Looks like there's a lot of great stuff in there that I'd never heard of before. I look forward to investigating further.
