There was a video a couple of days ago of Cyril Demaegd and Thomas Cauet speaking, in French, about the (near) future of SHCD :

https://www.trictrac.net/actus/sherlock-holmes-detective-con...

Before translating and summing up what was said, let me insist that they only talk about the french edition in this video. It may or may not apply to the other languages, I have no idea.

- Ystari and Space Cowboys are basically the same company now. There's a synergy of business capabilities between them, and they are pretty happy with it. But they will keep the two brands, Ystari for the brainy euros, and Space Cowboys for the more mainstream fare.

- Sherlock Holmes is brainy, but its success and "cubelessness" put it in the mainstream category, so it goes to Space Cowboys. But the same team is leading the project before and after.

- The 2011/2012 edition of SHCD sold an unexpected and impressive 60.000 copies, roughly split half/half between the french and the english versions.

- Cyril found Suzanne Goldberg to ask for the rights of the 2011 edition thanks to the help of Thomas Lehmann, of Race for the Galaxy fame. Apparently Thomas "knows everyone in San Francisco", and is best pal with Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Larry Ellison.

- In september a new box will be released in french, with 10 new booklets : 4 "darker themed" adventures around the murders of Jack The Ripper, with the players able to arrest him at the end of the fourth, a set which has been written by a specialist of the murderer ; plus the 6 West End Adventures by the original authors (which had never been translated in french). This will be the first published box with the new design (new sturdier box, new cover image, new London map, new London directory with a taller and more readable typography) ; it will be numbered #3 (see why below).

- For the end of the year (2016), they will re-release the "base" game, with the same 10 adventures we know, but with the new design ; it will be numbered #1.

- For the first half of 2017 they intend to group all the standalone expansions already released by Ystari (books 11 to 20, including Carlton House and Queen's Park), in a new box, with the same new design, and number it #2.

- They insist each of the 3 boxes will be standalone : nothing from any other box will be required to play. Notably, the text in the newspapers from a box will never be tied to investigations from another box.

Edit: pictures from Jack The Ripper & West-End Adventures:

Anything about fixing the major errors in the latest printing? I'd like to assume that is a given, but...

All interesting and good news, I think. However, what I really want at this point is Gaslight. Hopefully they will get to it. Oh yeah, and a remastered Gumshoe too!

For what it's worth, I think you can download the necessary errata if you have the first (second?) printing

I asked the publisher directly about the errata:
Quote:
Will those of us who already own the game be able to download the corrected pages for Case #3 and Case #6, once they’re available?

They responded with:
Quote:

Asmodee US shall offer something like that. Please contact them.

You can see the exchange in context here:
http://www.ystari.com/sherlock-holmes-reprinted/

So I'm assuming that there will be some kind of announcement from Asmodee, around the same time that they start pushing the official release date of the reprint.

It's not an official errata from the publisher, but sure looks like it (same font/background etc)
Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective Unofficial Errata

This now covers cases 3 and 6, and two newspaper pages. It fixes problems from incorrect translation from French version.

I did not understand this bit at all. What is a reimpression?

That aside, thank you for the information!

A silly mistake on my part. I meant a reprint. I clarified and changed the word.

I'm a bit confused but I may just be reading it wrong.

You say they Re releasing box 3 first in French, are they doing an English translation as well or is the reprint only in French?

I have the original folder version with bits falling out all the time, I would love to get a new version with all the expansions (I'm not sure if I can use the expansion with my version).

They are releasing box 3 in French for the first time in september, with four of the ten cases that are completely new in any language.

They didn't mention anything about the English translations, in one way or another (it's a video for a French boardgame website).

But on this page : http://www.ystari.com/sherlock-holmes-reprinted/ a spokesperson for Ystari (Gabriel Ecoutin) says that this box (#3) will be released in English by october 2016 (scroll near the end of the comments).

Thanks you for the response!

I really want an English version because I don't think my French is up to Sherlock Holmes, I can just about order food at a restaurant anything else is beyond me!

I will add it to my Christmas list.

Well, this comes as great and not-so-great news. I've got vintage versions of Mansion Murders and The Queen's Park Affair. I was just about to start the latter, but if there's about to be an improved version...

Has anybody played the french version and have an idea whether they've messed with the central conceit (one giant case, time constraints) of the expansion?

EDIT: From some links I've found about the french version, sounds like there are some substantial changes. The first QP takes place over 4 days, and this new one takes place over 3. Hmm...
