Hello,

I have been trying to get OCS Aide to work since I upgraded to Windows 10. I haven't been able to rename the file extensions. I can see them, they are not hidden, but I cannot get a rename option even after scouring the internet this morning.

Anyone have some advice? Thanks.

I don't know what you have to say, it makes no difference anyway: whatever it is, I'm against it!

Have you actually extracted the files from the ZIP file? You cannot rename something that still exists only inside a ZIP file (using the default Windows zipfile viewer, that is).

May I ask what this OCS aide is you speak of? Some file that makes OCS more manageable?

Its a little program used to calculate the results of attacks, barrages and captures. Plug in all relevant info (attack factors, defensive factors, hogs, terrain etc, etc) and hit the button, which gives you the results.

This, you have to unzip it first before you can change the extensions.

I am having the same problem as the OP and have extracted the files from the ZIP.

Actually I can rename them but when I run them it does not produce the desired result.

Edit: D'uh....got it running once I changed extension type properly.

I tried it yesterday, and it worked:

Extract the files to a temporary location.

Rename setup.txt to setup.exe

Rename OCSAideSetup.doc to OCSAideSetup.MSI

Double click setup.exe

I don't know why it tells you to run MSI then setup, that's just crazy talk.

Good grief, thank you fellas. Somehow when it downloaded I clicked go to file location and didn't realize I was being shown the inside of a zipped file, especially since I could view the readme. Doh. Thank you.

Wish I could get this on my ipad. VERY happy to have it though.

I am really curious about this as well as I use a mac a lot as I am traveling and it would be very handy - especially on a iPad. Does anyone know if there is a version like that?
