The Explorers expansion adds new "Explorer" role cards, which gives every play a slight advantage in one way or another.

What you need:
-The Archaeologist cards provided in this expansion
(Download the Explorer cards here!)

Set-Up:
•In a 2 player game, remove the "Accomplice".
-Shuffle the remaining Archaeologist cards and deal 2 to each player. Then, each player chooses 1 of those 2 to keep and discards the other one to the box. For the rest of the game, players will gain the advantages listed on their archaeologist cards.

New Mechanics:
-Each Archaeologist gives a player an advantage during the game. Here are the different archaeologists:

The Accomplice:
•When your opponent targets you with a Thief card, you choose which card they take.
•When you activate a Thief card, you may steal 1 card each from 2 different opponents.

The Swindler:
•You need 1 less card in a set to score the maximum number of points.
•This does not apply for sets of less than 3 cards.

You don't score extra points for a complete set, it's still the maximum value. For example, if you played A set of 4 Pot Shards, you would score 15 Points. You would still score 15 points, if it was a set of 5 Pot Shards.

You must have 2 Broken Cups in a set to score 15 points.

The Negotiator
•The first time you trade at the marketplace on your turn, you get +2 added to your trade value (you must trade at least 1 card to get this).

The Pharaoh
•Once, during each of your turns, you may "Entomb" a card in your hand, placing it face down in a stack next to the treasures you've sold.
•At the end of the game, you may sell all the cards you entombed during the game to the museum, making as many sets as possible.

The Archaeologist
•When you "Dig," look at the top two cards of the deck and choose one to play. Place the other card on the bottom of the deck.
•Once, during the game, you make keep both cards you look at.

The Professor
•Once, during each of your turns, after you sell a set of treasure(s) to the museum, you may add one treasure of the same type from the marketplace to that set.

You do not have to trade for this additional treasure, it is free to add it to your set.

The Merchant
•Once, during each of your turns, you may exchange 1 card from your hand with 1 card from the marketplace, regardless of value.

The Nomad
•After players discard cards for a sandstorm, you can take 1 of those discarded cards for each opponent who discarded at least 1 card.

So if 2 opponents discarded for the sandstorm, you can take 2 cards into your hand from among all the cards that were discarded as a result of the sandstorm

You discard for the sandstorm as normal.
