I'm surprised this wasn't up earlier:

https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2016/7/28/the-inv...

Intro blurb:
"Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the upcoming release of DOOM: The Board Game, a completely redesigned tactical combat experience for two to five players based on Bethesda’s blockbuster video game, DOOM.

Glory Kill your way to victory as one of the United Aerospace Corporation’s elite marines or grab control of the legions of demons threatening to take over the complex. Each side of DOOM’s asymmetrical gameplay introduces an entirely unique way to play, whether you're struggling to save Mars from being overrun by Hell’s most merciless demons or fighting to crush each marine and conquer the planet for good. You and up to four friends will play through a series of missions, the marines attempting to achieve a variety of objectives and the invader orchestrating a barrage of savage demon attacks against them. While the marines can respawn after death, they can only do so a set number of times before the demons claim victory over the mission, threatening not only the UAC’s operation, but the survival of humanity as a whole."

Was there actual demand for those anyway?

Around $60 a pop for the base on average, so a little, I guess.

Love 'em even if a few games get scuttled from time to time.

It's a little funny to see Mansions of Madness brought back with the "overlord" (Keeper, in this case) player removed, and then Doom brought back with it added in.

With most of my groups the "one" in the one-vs-many setup was less popular so I view this as a net gain for MoM. I fully expect Doom to now play even more like its descendant Descent.

I'm confusing Doom with something else, as it was not fully co-op to begin with. Whoops! blush

maybe they'll do a rtl type app too.

And since they can reboot Doom, hopefully they can reboot Gears of War!

I suppose with Gears of War 4 coming, that would not be totally out of the question.

GoW is already perfect, they just need to reprint it and make expansions!

As far as I know, they didn't have the rights to produce Doom anymore either.

Trick is, they gotta grab it up before Cryptozoic does, and makes something awful out of it.

After the amazing job FFG did with GoW (and the low resulting sales), I don't think anyone else is going to try their hand at the license.

Anyone who wants to sell me their expansion to partially fund their purchase of the new edition is more than welcome to send me a GM... whistle

There isn't strong enough words to express how HAPPY I am that this is not another lame co-op game and that FFG are embarrassing the conflict driven game that made the original awesome as all hell!

The question I have is if it is a "real" multiplayer game, or if it is actually a two player game with "split roles" to fake multiplayer like Rebellion.

There are no words to express how happy I am this is not another app driven "board game". The more apps FFG includes in its games the less I will buy. Had MoM 2nd edition not had an app I might've considered buying it even if it was co-op. Thankfully, they restrained themselves from going app crazy on Doom and left it well enough alone. These are BOARD games. Not board and app games.

I'm happy it's an app-free games as well, but FFG is hardly going app crazy. There have been exactly two games (MoM 2 and XCOM) from FFG so far that require an app, with one that has an optional one (Descent; I'm not counting stuff like the X-Wing dice app).

I don't get this app hate. Is it just angry old men who can't keep up with technology? Is it because you feel forced to purchase a gadget you otherwise don't need? Is it the fear of not having the app available? I just don't get it. I've only played two games that required an app; Alchemists (strictly speaking possible to play without, but I would never do that) and XCOM, and they are easily some of my favorite games of all time. Just because a board game uses an app, is by no means the same as it being bad. A lot of games are so obviously enhanced by them as well, like having it take care of the Crossroads deck. Would also prefer an app for instance in Eldritch Horror to take care of encounters.
