I'm trying to find an appropriately-themed game for our 3rd wedding anniversary (leather) and could do with some help! Last year was cotton so I went with Rococo, which was a hit but I'm struggling to find something for this year where leather is a focus. I'd thought about relaxing the theme and going for something based around cows, but we already have everything that I could find which looks interesting! The modern alternative gift to leather is glass, but I can only think of Glass Road which we've played and I found only ok. Appreciate any ideas you can throw my way

It's possibly to get leather (or imitation leather) game boards for various prices. I'd guess you could get a leather dice cup too.

The Traders & Barbarians scenario from Catan: Traders & Barbarians has glass - I've not played it though.

El Gaucho looks cow heavy,

Great Western Trail is about cattle drives, but I don't know if it will be released in time.

Perudo/liars dice with leather dice cups?

That's a tough one. The first thing that pops into my head is Stone Age and its stinky leather cup.

Le Havre has leather as a resource, but that's about all I got.

Agricola has cows, sheep, and pigs. Medici and its two-player version Medici vs Strozzi includes skins as one of the types of goods.

Oh yeah, this for sure.

When we play Stone Age, my sister refuses to even allow the cup on the table because it is so stinky. And I got the game used, so it has theoretically had time to air out.

+1 Le Havre.

You kill the cows, make leather out of the hides and ship it for victory.

If you google "leather dice bag" you'll come up with lots of alternatives.

My girlfriend and I enjoy Jaipur. One of the items in there is leather. It's the lowest valued good and there always seems to come a moment in our games where there is a lot of leather out on the board. For some reason, I can no longer remember, we started asking "would you like some leather" in a Russian accent when this happens.

This is the first thing that came to mind when I read your question, but after writing it out I think it's a poor sugguestion for you.

I was wracking my brains earlier this year to answer the very same question. I couldn't come up with a leather game so gave up and went for something else altogether. It didn't occur to me to ask the geek hive mind.

As a heads up for next year, fruit and flowers anyone?

Just as a matter of interest what did you give for your 1st wedding anniversary (paper)?

+1 Jaipur or Longhorn

We don't really celebrate anniversaries, but our tenth is coming up, and this sounds like a good excuse for a new game.

I don't have any games that have yet to be posted...

but I think that's an awesome idea. It's great that the both of you both enjoy the same thing... at least I assume the other half enjoys board games.
