Right we are off to another Island for a dance and, as I'm in attendance, boardgames.

I own at least two copies of Dixit - it's definitely the perfect game given the numbers and diverse mix of people. Can I find either of them... nope. shake

How long have you misplaced a game you own?

Poll
How long have you lost a game in the 'stack(s)'?
Never! I know where all my games are (and check hourly).
I have had the odd panic but found said game within 20 minutes of looking.
I've lost a game for 24 hours and slept badly.
I've lost a game for a few days (when I found it I though: 'clever game').
I've lost a game for a few weeks (when I found it it was highly satisfying).
I've lost a game for a month (when I found it it was like nectar.)
I've lost a game for a year (when I found it it was like a free game).
I've found a game after 2 - 5 years of hankering (when I found it I was ecstatic but couldn't express the euphoria to non-boardgames... their loss.)
I'm still looking for a game that I own but have misplaced... (thanks for reminding me.)
I'm Stil searching for a game that I own... and am beginning to suspect family members, friends and that person driving that car...
I'm just as likely to find a game I don't remember buying than the one I'm looking for.

I thought this would never happen to me... and now that it has, until I find the game I still don't know *why* it happened. Did I forget I lent it out? Did it fall behind a shelf? It's a mystery.

I've only done this a few time, but then again I don't have a very large collection.

I frequently forget small, filler games inside of other games. While it makes it easier to carry to game night, I have forgotten about games before.

I've also forgotten about promos, dice, random pieces, and even stuff like cough drops because I through it would be "easier" to toss them in one box.

During a move I tossed my copy of Fields of Honor: The American War for Independence and my Fire and Fury rules into a cooler that ended up in the garage of the home we moved to. After missing it sorely, I found it a year later when we moved again.

Now I know where all my games are, at all times. They are also not allowed to roam without an escort.

There are definitely a few games I've lost more than 5 yrs. ago, but I wouldn't say I'm actively looking for them anymore.

Similar, here. I've never lost a game, but I've lost original boxes for years. You know, you get a wooden box to put a game in but want to keep the original packaging but not on display with everything else, so you put it someplace safe? Yeah, last time I did that, the boxes were so safe that I couldn't figure out where they were. I accidentally located them 10 years later.

I lost my copy Xbox copy of Psychonauts. I replaced it with a PS2 copy.

If I ever play it I will likely play my Windows version though.

Dominion/TTR and all that is probably in the lounge, tends to show up when needed.

The important stuff's all lined up on my office shelves a mere glance away.

OMG. I lost my copy of Dixit + Expansions a couple of years ago. I'm still hoping it turns up! But actually, I think it was stolen at a game day I went to. My wife's family was very sad about it. Close to caving again and rebuying it all again just because they like it so much. Hoping for a good eBay bundle!

What's embarrassing is when someone buys a game out of the marketplace, and you can't find it.

I lost our copy of The Game of Life on purpose once.

Does that count?

Otherwise, no, I've never lost a game and am not sure how you could.

I don't lose games, but I keep losing track of my computer memory sticks. I put them in a logical place . . . rriiight! and then can't remember where.

Most of my game live in the trunk of my car. As long as I don't lose my car there should be nothing to worry about... and if i do lose my games I'll probably be a lot more worried about the car.

When I read the description of dragons in my old Dungeons and Dragons books, I found it preposterous that dragons somehow knew where every single item of treasure in their vast hoard would be found, and that they would miss even the smallest part of the hoard if it turned up missing.

While moving one time I consolidated boxes and put a copy of San Juan into the Thunder's Edge box (why that game had so much empty space in that box I never figured out). Of course when I got around to unpacking I completely forgot about it. It wasn't until a year or so later when I was getting rid of Thunder's Edge that I found San Juan... glad I always check the boxes before I give games away

If anyone spots an electronic Big Boggle somewhere about the place, please let me know (it's a 15cm cube, fer cryin' out loud... )

Also, there are two games I can locate immediately (I can see one of them as I type this) whose rules are completely misplaced. At some time or another I have taken out the rules to read, and put them somewhere "safe". Damn it.

After we moved house, a box with about thirty games was lost. It contained classics as Merchant to Venus (old edition) and Kremlin.

We eventually found it again, months later.

So I gave up.

My lover today asked if I packed the Hanabi.
"No, I couldn't find it."
"It's on the bedroom bookshelf."
"No it's not".

I've now packed Hanabi.

Before I bought my current house, my games were spread around a bit. Some at my parents' place, some at a friend's, some at my GF's. So when I went out to consolidate it all into my current shelf, it took a bit of searching. The one I remember most is King of Tokyo. I was certain that I owned this game, but couldn't find it for long enough to start doubting that. It was at my parents' place under a ton of other stuff. Fortunately still in great condition

Does it count when I misplaced my Dominion Essen 2015 promo in one of the games and then traded for another one which lead to me open said game and finding the original copy...
