The Splendor rules state: "In case of a tie, the player who has purchased the fewest development cards wins."

I played a 2-player game against the AI on the Splendor app and we tied on 15 points and while I had 19 development cards, my opponent only had 16, so naturally the victory should have been theirs...

...However, I was awarded the victory! (?)

I looked at the details of the prestige points and have come to assume the app used the fewer number of development cards with prestige points as the tie-breaker criteria, as I only had 6 development cards with prestige points on them while my opponent had 7.

A very strange occurrence, but I think that if two players ended with the same points total and number of development cards, the fewer number of development cards with prestige points would work as a second tie-break criteria.

Having said that, in my games, if you have the same points total and number of development cards I’d call it a tie.

Interesting... I googled this after winning a round with 16 points each, when I had more development cards than the AI player... but ignoring the ones without prestige points is probably the key difference (i didn't think to check that).

That said... I can't find any definition of the rules that specifies only development cards with prestige points should be counted.
