My dad has started collecting old World War II-themed war games from the 80s and other than eBay has had little luck finding them. He asked me for other places to find these games and, as war games are not my thing, I didn't have an answer for him. So, where do you go (online or otherwise) to find old war games? Thanks!

Consimworld is one of the best wargame resources out there:

http://www.consimworld.com/

The marketplace regularly has WWII games posted from the 80's era.

http://talk.consimworld.com/WebX/?14@@.ee6de8c

Registration is free and there's a very supportive and knowledgable wargaming community.

Sub forums deal with specific topics, eg: WWII Individual Games: http://talk.consimworld.com/WebX/?14@@.ee6ded8

Boardgamegeek has probably the best database of information on wargames. If you search for individual games and look in the Marketplace section on the game page you'll usually find copies of the game up for sale.

Since you are already active on BGG the Geek Market might be an option.

I can recommend http://www.finegames.com/ (no connection other than being a satisfied customer) - Mike Dean has been running that business for nearly 25 years and can also help track down "wants".

Joel Toppen runs a good facebook group for buying/selling wargames.

Also you might be able to buy a game "for trade" for cash.

Noble Knight Games carries a lot of out of print wargames. Can get pricey, though.

This FB page is a great place for buying wargames - old or new. I have used it and have never had a problem.

It never hurts to have a quick look at your local craigslist -- sure, it's unlikely that there will be any listed unless you're in a large city, but you just never know what folks will be selling on CL, and often at garage sale prices -- I've heard plenty of stories about people getting a stack of vintage Avalon Hill titles for $5 each! But even if the seller wants more than that, you'll save a ton on shipping costs.

cool
