How Spice Harvest Works

The game is a combination of Spice Harvest and Duel.

The winning Player is determined by keeping track of victory points. These are earned in various ways and im sure some of you can work out what the symbols mean based on the little text for each.

Start of the game each player receives a vote yes, no, 1 duel card, planet card and their 10 starting spice.

Then each player secretly bids an amount of spice in order to become the first manager. The highest bid wins the position. The ne manager pays the spice he bid to the second highest player.

The game is played over 5 rounds and each round is split into various phases. There are also 3 Kanly duel cards within the deck of access cards which if played will result in a new duel round for each card.

Harvest Phase

The Manager draws the top harvest card, he then makes a report...
He may report up to the number of spice on the card. He may tell the truth and report exactly how much is on the card. Or he may lie and instead say any number up to the number on the card.
3 spice is then added from the bank to the amount stated.

He then hands out share cards to all players. The share is how much spice that player will receive from the harvest. Each player must then vote yay or nay. If the majority is yay then the card is revealed and the players receive their share. The rest goes to the manager. Any players who voted nay get nothing. If the vote is a nay and the manager was lying then all players divide up the spice between them and the maanger gets nothing. Then the player to the left of the Manager becomes the Manager. Players who voted yay get nothing. If the vote is nay and the manager wasn't lying then all nay voters get nothing and the yes voters get their share.

If at anytime a worm card is drawn then the manager loses his position and instead it goes to the freman player.

Bidding Round

1 Access card per player is drawn face down. Players then take turns bidding on each access card in turn. Once all cards have been bid upon and won it goes to the next round.

Access Trading Round

During the trading Round players may sell off their Access cards to other players if they choose to. During this time Players may also make or break alliances.

Alliances

Alliances in Spice Harvest may only Occur either during an Access Trading round or At the start of a duel (before spice is allocated for shields). However only the duel participants may ally with another faction.
You can only ally with one other faction at a time in Spice Harvest, Whilst Allied at the start of every subsequent Access Trading Round you must both vote to remain in the alliance (with vote cards) if you vote yes then you pay 2 spice to the bank, if oyu vote no then you pay nothing. If there is 1 or more no votes then the Alliance Crumbles. If oyu voted yes and the other player voted no you still must pay your 2 spice.

Whilst Allied you may pledge your leader in a duel in support of your ally. This allows your ally to draw 2 duel cards at the start instead of one. Also you may pay some of or all of your allies shield fee in spice.
However if your Ally loses then both you and your ally lose their leaders. If both of you win the duel then you both earn the vanquished leaders value in either Damage or Hitpoints, whichever is highest.

Also whilst allied you both move your alliance tokens so that you both share VP abilities. For example the fremen gain +1 vp for every sietch they end the game with and the atreides gain +2 vp if they hold arakeen. Now both have these 2 added vp earning abilities.

Allied factions cannot attempt a duel against each other. If whilst claiming a stronghold both allies draw the same location. If neither wants to back down then the alliance crumbles and they may compete as usual. However any scoring they would have gained at the end of the game based on their alliance is lost.

The Duel

Duels only ever occur when a player plays the access card called Kanly. Once played that player must then select another player whom he would like to face in the arena. If you call the duel when both you and your opponent have pledged troops to the same stronghold. Then the winner of the duel claims the stronghold instead of the player with higher troops.
Now each player involved in the Duel may ask for Allies if he has no allies or he may ask his ally for help if he already has one or gains one. Nobody else may Ally with anyone else except with a person involved in the duels. Dueling players cannot ally.# with each other.

Once allies have been settled. Your ally must now choose, before shield charging if he will support you in the battle, if your ally supports you then you may either draw 2 duel cards instead of one or draw one and choose to discard and redraw it. However oyu must declare which you plan to do before you draw. Each player may spend spice to boost the shield of their leader up to the allowed shield amount for that leader (blue number). An ally may also do this by paying some or half of the shield fee.

Your hand limit for duel cards is 4.

Some factions have abilities that can only be used in a duel, they are listed here.

Atreides - look at 1 starting duel card from your opponents hand chosen at random.
Harkonnen - your hand limit for duel cards is 5 instead of 4
Fremen - Your opponents damage strength(red number) is lowered by 1
bene tleilax - if you are killed in the battle, keep your leader card. You revive him.
Bene Gesserit - your opponents hand limit is reduced by 1.
Ixian - you may go over your shield limit, but for each additional shield point you pay 2 spice instead of 1.
Emperor - you may discard and redraw a duel card, however you must keep your second draw. You cannot do this for your starting card unless you have an ally who supports you.
Smugglers - if you or your opponent flees with honor then you gain 2 vp tokens
Landsraad - for every blow you land on an opponents shield, 1 damage goes through and hits their health provided they still have a shield after you hit.
Guild - You may play any card to remove a block token.

The winner of ties is determined via a vote yes or no by all players on the first manager, if that is also a tie then the landsraad player picks. if there is no landsraad then its randomised

the planet abilities of the new factions are as follows

Smugglers
You cannot be the manager under any circumstances.
whenever you vote yes and the vote is a nay and the manager was lying. You still keep your share of the spice determined by your share card. The other players then evenly divide whats left.

Landsraad
Your votes count as 2 votes instead of one. Also whenever something is a tie, you choose who wins the tie.

Bene Tleilax
Whenever the manager draws a worm card and he is not the fremen, he must pay you 3 spice. If he is unable to pay then he must pay you when able.

Ixian
When a worm card is drawn, you may charge the manager x amount of spice to keep his role instead of passing it to the fremen player. If oyu both agree on a sum then the card is discarded and a new card drawn.

Changed the image in the first post to reflect the final version of the spice harvest board.

Now the card makeup of both the access and harvest decks are shown on the board. Also there are 2 worm symbols above the harvest deck that will have tokens placed on them whenever a worm card is drawn. whenever both worm cards have been drawn the deck gets the discard shuffled back in.

Rule Book is complete. Not sure if i should create a new game on Bgg for this or leave it in the Dune Section of BGG

If you do plan to play this then please read through the rules fully even if you have played The Duel or Spice Harvest Expansions because the rules here do differ in some areas.

The pdf is found here

All other files such as board, cards etc will be released later.

If you own Tabletop Simulator then you can download the MOD and play it right now.
