The NVA knew who they were fighting in Laos. It makes no sense to have denied recognition to the Americans who fought them there. Sargeant Gary Rose was a medic who took no thought for his own safety under fire as he cared for the other wounded men in his company. Congress has finally authorized that the Congressional Medal of Honor be awarded to him. Here's the link to his story in the NY Times:
