In matters of space, what is the largest game out there? Not including war games, cus those are huge, and not HeroScape, because a fun game of that is huge, too.

Trying to buy a table and want to get one that's big enough for even the biggest games.

Last Twilight Imperium game I played was 6 people and it was pretty snug round an 8'x4' table. 8 people would have been even worse. I think I'd need smaller replacement player mats and tech trees.

Mega Civilization with sixteen players takes up some space.

The first question should be: How large is the room you are going to put the table in?

With expansions, Arkham Horror can be played in various rooms simultaneously:

And there's of course Mega Civilization:

4 seperate boards. I think it depends on the number of players (5-18) how many boards are actually used.

The War Game: World War II has a huge 8' (96") x 4' (48") board. Image below shows it on a ping-pong table.

Years ago I played a game of RoboRally that completely covered a standard ping-pong table with boards. (Sorry - no pictures.) I played from 9 a.m. or so till 5:30. They went on till six the next morning. I love RoboRally but that was a bit much.

There's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying 'til you run out of cake.

Since you're buying a table, I assume the real question is how big is the biggest game you would normally expect to have on it. Not many people will ever have Mega Civilization laid out. However, that Conquest of the Empire board is probably a good guide of the sort of space you want. Can anyone provide a guide for how much space a game of 7 wonders with 7 players takes up, if everyone's got plenty of room? That's a good size to aim for.

As another guide it looks like the smaller end of tables from Geek Chic start at 5' x 2'4"

You cheated... OP said no war games

I was going to suggest Ogre DE but I think it has been out sized already.

The Campaign for North Africa

A friend just showed me this earlier today.

Quote:
Scans of all five map sections, pieced together to make the "huge" 10-foot map of North Africa. Here reduced to quarter size, but just enough detail to make out what a monster this is.

Edit: I missed the part about wargames too.

LOL. I read "wargame" as a grognard hex-and-counter game. But given the title of my suggestion being "The War Game" I guess I'm disqualified.

Now I really want Mega Civilization.

The North African Campaign by SPI. You NEED 7 players. It takes as long to play the game as the historical campaign took.

Battle Masters has a really big game mat. When I was little I always had to play on my full size bed.

The 7th Continent will probably be the biggest, if you just keep exploring non-stop.

In theory, but as you may have to "reset" the map, it's not sure.

Yes no wargames and I think you may find that TSWW: Mare Nostrum
by diffraction Entertainment beats it now

Personally, I would use a 4x8 sheet of 5/8 plywood for the table top.

If you run into a game with a board bigger than that... don't buy it!

Well, meet East Front Series by GMT.

And that's not even the complete series to this point.

Most for those are 22x34 maps. Not sure of the size total. About 15' by 12'? I don't think it can be set up as mapped, because you wouldn't be able to reach the center. I think they game it at monster con in sections. But, yeah, Europa is no joke. WiF total might come close, too.
