after 9 games, i am considering using the first two in my base only games (i don't play with BoW usually) - bountiful harvest does not cause loss of resources, and it triggers developments - but also thinking about using other order card triggers for developments.

none of the other house rules appeal to me, at least for now.

I dramatically simplified/altered the ways heroes operate, because they were just bogging down our games. I wrote a thread about it. If I can find it easily, I'll link it here.

But I think you saw that already as you posted in that thread. Still have only played 2p with those rules.

U didn't mention the following 2 which my group really like:
1. D20 dice
- either completely instead of fate cards,
- or as an alternative option, so both can be used, according to player preference

2. Public quests - each season 1 public quest becomes available for all players (in addition to 1 secret quest at any one time) - this made quests more interactive, adding a race type feeling. Fun, plus makes it bit less random.

Both these were great suggestions by other users, though I forget their names.
Cheers, Sal

You could just create a new poll with the other options, and then edit the original post to include it below the other one.

Not ideal, but it could still work

The only variant we really play with is the number of tiles we use in the setup. It really depends on how much time we have to play. If we have a full day (extremely rare) we will add in more tiles, if we have less time - remove one or two tiles to make the competition more fierce and at each other's throats right away. I prefer RAW and that is how we play most of the time.

RAW is an acronym meaning "Rules As Written".

IE, when you play a game RAW, you are playing it without any house rules or unofficial variants.

thanks for suggestion - i did that even though it's ugly

i should have clarified that public quests means shared quests, where whoever gets there first can fulfill it. and not that your personal quests are visible to everyone. But hopefully that isn't too ambiguous.

public quests kind of interests me.
