The original version uses all icons for all the card abilities, so other than the rules and card titles, it's pretty much language neutral.

You say "the original version"... is this Master set as language independent as the original?

Thing is: as a lot of people say 51st State is very similar to IS, I thought this game had text in its cards as happens with IS.

The original 51st State, and New Era which was a sort of revision of that, both used pure icons for all the cards. So if you know the rules, the cards are language neutral (expect for the card titles).

Then IS came out, which was based on 51st, and they changed, among other things, the icons to all card text on every card.

Then Master Set came out, which took all of the changes in IS, and brought them back to the 51st world.

That's the short history, leaving out Winter for simplicity.

No, IS changed several aspects which simplified the gameplay, not to mention lightened the theme and artwork. There are many threads on this, so I can't tell you anything you can't find there.
