if theres any other folk who like to play board, dice or card games. im in caithness. i know theres a games night in thurso, but its to heavy on the rpg and war games.

im hoping theres some like minded folk who just want to enjoy playing games.
im a stay at home mother and i hope to be able to make some friends who like to play boardgames.
i occasionaly play with husband and our 9 yr old son, but its not so enjoyable when one player isnt really interested in playing and i have to keep trying to explain who to play to my son

so yeah.....any caithness folks lets do this.

Best of luck

Searching BGG turns up three members in Thurso:

https://boardgamegeek.com/users?country=United+Kingdom&state...

one in Wick:

https://boardgamegeek.com/users?country=United+Kingdom&state...

Some duplicates for Caithness:

https://boardgamegeek.com/users?country=United+Kingdom&state...=

I'm not sure where in Caithness you live, but there's a lot to be said for growing your own group starting from friends, pta or any other organisations you're in.

Hope you have some success, let us know how you get on.

I know the feeling, I have a similar problem in Troon.

However on my free nights I have taken up playing solo board games.

Lots of information and suggestions can be found here: https://boardgamegeek.com/guild/1303 @ the 1player guild.

Best of luck
Edit:
As it is also the biggest gaming convention this weekend (arguably) gencon 2016,
For those of us that can't travel to the USA for it, there is: https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/211731/item/4761274?comme...

If you're looking to take part in some competitions.

hello raymond. thanks for the welcome. ido have a few solo board or card games i sometimes play or have recently bought. but i do want games mates. apart from my husband and kids im am a pretty isolated person as im not a native to these parts.
i just never managed to catch a welcome to join any of the games night games tables except with magictg cards. and although i enjoy the occasional game of that i really couldnt get all excited to keep looking and listening to the rabid card collectors.
then my freetime for that night changed in favour of taking my boy to cubs.

so anyway i like some solo games and sometimes we have a family games night on the rare time. but i would like to be more sociable with like minded people as it would get me out of the house.

ireally was interested in getting into malifaux but it wasnt to be. i do have the beginner box for pathfinder but i need to study it first.
i dont have many games yet but i recently bought gloom, zombie dice and masquerade. so it will be fun.

Being at Troon gives you access to TWO game clubs, one in Prestwick ...

... Both have boardgamers and welcome new members ... Walts

Raymond

As Walts has already mentioned there are two clubs near you as per the highlighted links.

I was similar to you about a year ago having to make do with solo games until I accidentally stumbled across the Irvine club. I went along and have never looked back since.

Great bunch of guys and gals attend there. Walts and me are both members of the Irvine club and there are a number of us who are board gamers who attend every Sunday where various board games are on offer. You would be more than welcome. Come along and give it a try at the very least.

Bit of post necromancy here, but hi Heather! It's Stuart from the Northern Knights club.

I totally get where you're coming from on the NK being very heavy on RPGs and wargames! If you do manage to get a group together for a wee game night, I'd be up for coming along too - just let me know
