Below are the event titles and descriptions for the Endurance events included in the Animal Games prototype along with all suggestions meeting the criteria as specified in the FAQ.

The flying and water provisions for the prototype events can be seen in the free Print n Play file under 'Files'.

Alternative Endurance events suggested by backers in the Kickstarter project comments will be listed here. Please make any event suggestions in the Kickstarter project comments tab first before mentioning them here to ensure they are listed under your name.

Please ‘Recommend’ the events you like by clicking the green “Thumbs-up” button next to the event's individual entry below the main list.

If your event suggestion is not listed here, either it did not fulfil the suggestion criteria (see project FAQ) or we may not have got round to posting it yet. Feel free to contact me on BGG or Kickstarter if it has been more than 3 days in case I have missed something.

Endurance events

1) 3km steeplechase - Animals race over a 3km steeplechase course on a standard outdoor athletics track

2) Alaska to South America - Animals must race from a port in Alaska to a port on the southern tip of South America, taking any route, including a water route if appropriate

3) The Bleep Test - Animals are gathered in a sports hall. They must cover a 20m gap in time with regular bleeps that gradually get closer together and they are out when they miss three bleeps in a row

4) Bulldog Clip Challenge - Each animal must apply a bulldog clip to an area of their external skin as selected by the human player to their right and must keep it on as long as possible. Strictly no genitalia

5) London Marathon - Animals compete in the London Marathon (a 26 mile road run around central London) alongside their human counterparts

6) Mount Everest - Animals start at base camp and must climb to the peak of Mount Everest as quickly as possible. Refreshments are provided on demand

7) New York to Miami - Animals must race from New York to Miami, taking any chosen route, including a water route if appropriate

8) Amsterdam to Athens - Animals must race from a port in Amsterdam to a port in Athens, taking any chosen route, including a water route if appropriate

9) Changing temperature - Animals are lined up in an empty temperature-regulated room which starts at room temperature. The temperature changes by one degree per minute and animals must stay in the room as long as possible. The event selector can decide whether the temperature increases or decreases.

10) Time without food - Animals are first allowed to eat as much as they like and are then lined up outside. An enormous bowl of their favourite food is put in front of them and they must wait as long as possible before eating anything

At 3km...I'd put this under Speed not endurance

Wow. Cool.

Good one

Amusing. I don't know if you should use the word genitalia though...this is a family game right?

I like Alaska to South America, but these two feel a bit samey.

What about a race across Antarctica?

Feels a bit too wordy and technical and removed from reality. How about splitting it in to two competitions...one to stay in Death Valley the longest, and one to stay at the North Pole the longest?

This just feels like a torture game. I don't like it, but can't think of a better alternative. Surviving on a desert island with no food the longest?

Endurance was the hardest category to think of events for it's fair to say.

I think you need the category though. Thanks again for your feedback.

Well... You could always just get rid of the category. The best endurance events (eg London Marathon) could just as easily go under speed anyway.

It is tempting. It's good because it advantages some of the animals that struggle in other events - birds in particular, as well as mammals built for endurance.

But I never choose endurance if I'm playing the game, so it is tempting to bin it.

Well you would still have some of those endurance type events in the game, just not a whole category of them.

I especially like the London Marathon one, and at least one of the super long distance events. Climbng Mt Everest is interesting a different too. Those are all still races and could certainly go under speed even though there is more to it than just speed.
