Rab was absolutely crazy about the first game, this was expected. I suppose it's a good sign if you were a big fan of 1st

Nice review.

Great site.

Didn't Quinns from Shut Up and Sit Down write for them ages back?

No the scenarios aren't random at all. There a couple different tile layouts that repeat. It is somewhat variable but not random.

A couple different map layouts vs 3 different objectives with the same exact map... Guess it depends on what you prefer, but I don't see a downside to this.

I can confirm that there are at least 5 map setups for the first adventure alone. I suspect a sixth at least but can't confirm that.

Is that with one or more 1E expansions thrown in, or with only base game map tiles? If the former, is this with all 1E expansions available?

I've just done another 6 restarts, though, with just 2nd edition materials included, and found 4 map layouts so far.

How long does it take to start seeing new tiles? It seems like the first several tiles are always the same (within a given set, i.e., 1E and 2E).

It looks to me like there's six total layouts for the first adventure. There's at least two for each entry way (Foyer, Lobby, Entry Hall) and they definitely include different tiles, but also some tiles on repeat. I guess the idea is that this is a specific house so you're not going to see chapels or labs or dungeons or caves or any of those tiles, just seems to be the kind of generic "this would be in a real house" type tiles for this first adventure. None of the outside tiles either, obviously, though the rooftop tile has popped up.

Thanks for this. I really miss Robert's Downtime Town videos being offered up here on the site. His Cosmic Encounter review always cracks me up.
