Fox & Ox Creations, creators of the RPG system Cards & Quests, are coming to Kickstarter to seek funding for their first board game, Bureaunauts. The game has been presented at conventions all over Texas and Louisiana. Fans of the game have loved the retro style art, light hearted conflict resolution, and the unpredictability of the eventual CEO.
GenCon 2016 attendees will have the opportunity to play Bureaunauts as well as see the final product in WinGo’s booth #3026. Bureaunauts can be found in the GenCon Event Listings. Bureaunauts will also be available to play at the Austin Board Game Bash at the Fox & Ox Creations booth, August 12th – 14th. The Kickstarter launches on August 4, 2016 with full art and design complete and will feature the game at $45, including free shipping to US destinations.
About the game:
Bureaunauts begins with all players as interns racing to the top of the galactic corporate ladder. You will encounter Space Pirates, Ancient Relics, Space Jellies, Lost Civilizations, Business Lunches, Meetings, and, of course, lots of Paperwork. As you complete your career goals and get promotions, you will be able to influence the different department heads to vote for you in your objective to become CEO. The player with the majority of votes wins the title of Galactic CEO.
Bureaunauts is a game that requires a dynamic strategy mixed with some luck. The most distinguishing game component is the space phone. Players lock in their coordinates and reveal where they will hyper jump in the section of space (represented by an 8 x 10 grid of cards). All players choose their actions on the space phone at the same time, reducing the total game time. This mechanic allows the game to scale well from 2 to 6 players and easily keeps the game within the timeframe of 45-60 minutes.
Paperwork will be filed. Meetings will be scheduled. Space pirates will be defeated. It’s all in a day’s work for the next CEO. Will it be you?
