If a company is not operating (because it has no trains or because it has just bought its first train) it does not generate revenues, and there is nothing to "distribute" as dividend. In this case, should the share value go down?

Antonio, a company is operating if it has a turn in the OR, even if it doesn't own a train or has just bought one. Typically, a company's stock price will go down in its first OR of operation because it doesn't have a train to run until it buys one after the train running step. (Some games have privates or other special means to allow a company to run for revenue in its first OR, but this is unusual.)

However, if the company has not yet floated because 50% of the stock has not been bought, then it does not operate and the stock price does not change.
