From reading posts here, I get the impression that you can have as many players as you want, whether or not they are fielded. You must pay all their salaries, and can only rid yourself of unwanted players with a sales action on the market board.

So...when can you rearrange players, if at all?

At any time.

The trick is you will rarely be able to afford having a bench of unused players.

You have 2 ways of improving your team:

o buy the new player first and then get rid of the old player in that slot. This is the safest way but a lot of time you can't do it due to lack of money.

o sell the old player first and then get the new player for that slot. This lets you use the money from the sale to help pay for the new player. When you do this you risk getting "screwed" if another player or the solo system buys the new player you wanted after you have already sold your regular. When this happens, you make your team even worse for the next game than it was before.

Gotcha...I actually found the quote in the rulebook...

Page 9 "Football players can be moved in or out the team in any moment, to
start playing or to wait for a future sale (those are placed aside the
Club board)."
