When performing the Investigate action, if the Evidence icon matches and the total Evidence exceeds the value of the Lead card, the rules say that the Lead card is moved to the Impossible. Furthermore, any Evidence cards played to that Lead are shuffled back into the deck. What happens to Evidence cards that had been added to that Lead card (causing an increase to the value of Evidence required to confirm the lead)?

I assume that it works the same as when using the Pursue action (i.e., the Evidence cards that were increasing the Lead value are also shuffled into the deck), but I cannot verify this assumption from my reading of the rules.

All the evidence cards are shuffled back into the evidence deck regardless of where on the lead they are found.

Only the lead is turned face down and added to the Impossible.
