Looking for a card game to take on holiday. Must work well with 2 players. Wife loves Duel and Sushi go (not 2 player) not so fond of Dominion or Race.

Been looking at Mystic Vale but on the fence and Castles of burgundy the card game but that's not availible in the UK yet

Recommendations welcome, thank you

Innovation

The wife and I like this game a lot. Some say it is a bit chaotic, but once you know the cards the chaos simmers (never goes completely away).

That's my caveat for this game, it is a bit chaotic and a won game can be lost, but that means a lost game can be won, all through cleverl play and sometimes luck.

Revolver 2: Last Stand at Malpaso (or Revolver which has many, many expansions). Ditch the tin and everything will fit safely in a large grip seal bag.

All are fairly cheap, and available. Check best prices here - www.boardgameprices.co.uk

Different feel than the other things listed, but imo Battle Line is the best 2 player card game.

Surprised no one's mentioned Jaipur yet. It's 2-player only and plays pretty fast.

Or Lost Cities, though I prefer Jaipur.

My wife and I are obsessively playing Greed (donaldx's card drafting game for 2-5 players) lately.

We also like Schotten Totten and Famiglia a lot.

More offbeat, The Battle for Hill 218 is a clever card wargame.

And lots of different games using the Decktet deck of cards.

My wife and I have been playing Lost Cities and Tides of Time a lot lately.. I prefer the former, while she definitely prefers the latter.

I would also recommend Battle Line, also rethemed as Schotten Totten. Both are similar to Lost Cities, but are a bit deeper. Schotten Totten is being reprinted now, and IMO the artwork makes it more accessible.

Targi & Jaipur are fun games.. Targi is definitely deeper than Jaipur, and actually has the feeling of a bigger game.

We recently picked up Paperback, which is a deckbuilding game using letters and words.. Its like a cross between Dominion and Scrabble. We haven't played it yet, but hopefully this weekend.

I demo'd Mystic Vale and its an interesting mechanic, that will likely scale down very well to 2 players. My only problem with it is that other than sharing a common market for cards, there is very little player to player interaction.
