Hi,

I am new to Wizard (unbelievable, I know ).

Should I buy this new edition or the old one? And can I play the "normal" game with this edition?

Thanks!

Late answer (better than no answer meeple)

IMHO, the new cards add nothing to the game but luck. It's nice to have them, but we prefer to play without them - which also answers your question: yes, you can play the normal version of the game by simply removing those 6 new cards.

Even later answer

Was in your shoes - finally wanted to get my own copy... In the end I took the Anniversary edition as I may as well play without the extra cards.

Of course, if those are omitted too often they might end up being too visible from the back... Will see I guess.

Ideally you should get this version.
The basic Wizard is superior for sure. BUT I know many who prefer the extra chaos the new cards bring with them and it's still a great game.

If you can sleeve the cards then no reason not to get it.
