I'm back baby!!! And early! Did you miss me? Of course you did. It has been a nice break and I have had plenty of time to get the creative juices flowing once more. Not that I have really ever run out of ideas, but a new set is coming out and of course there have to be new challenges for it, but of course with every new set release there is a short period that allows people who haven't picked up a copy yet to do so. So begins our road to Civil War.
-------------------------------------------------------------

Not to be confused with the Secret Wars, this storyline comes from a covert operation headed by Nick Fury and without any approval from SHIELD. In this black OPs mission Nick Fury recruits the help of Wolverine, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Captain America, and himself. Villains have been turning up with more and more hi-tech weapons, but where are they coming from? That is what Nick Fury plans to find out and shut down, but when he finds out that it is coming out of Latveria he is told not to invade foreign soil. Nick Fury not one to let them get away with this Nick Fury pulls together and performs this mission...

Awesome! Played 2 handed (i.e. 2 player). Did not play final blow.

So this was REALLY rough, especially at the start. Villains and bystanders were escaping left and right. Eventually, though, I was able to take out some of these boosted villains with one hand I was playing, which gave some breathing room from escaping villains, and could then focus on Dr. Doom with the other hand. Only 1 Nega-Bomb went off despite 4 twists total. Almost ceertainly would have lost on next twist (which, as it turns out, was the next card. WOW what luck!).

Final scores:

Player 1: 23 (took out all 4 Tactics)
Player 2: 12
7 escaped villains, 3 bystanders carried off.

14 non-grey heroes KOd.

Final decks:
Player 1:
Captain America
3x Perfect Teamwork (came up huge)

Daredevil
2x Backflip
2x Blind Justice (combo used to get Sidekicks and play them the same turn)

Nick Fury
2x High-Tech Weaponry
1x Battlefield Promotion
1x Legendary Commander

Wolverine
1x Healing Factor

SHIELD
4x SHIELD Officer
4x SHIELD Agent
1x SHIELD Trooper

Player 2 (heavy Instinct focus for Wolverine, though wasn't able to get many expensive cards - just enough to take out a few villains):
Captain America:
1x Avengers Assemble!
1x Diving Block
1x A Day Unlike Any Other (never got to play it though)

Daredevil:
1x Radar Sense

Spider-Man:
1x Great Responsibility
1x The Amazing Spider-Man

Wolverine:
3x Keen Senses
1x Healing Factor

SHIELD:
7x SHIELD Agent
4x SHIELD Trooper

Sidekicks came up huge for both hands - bought one any time I had 2 recruit and there were just extra copies of cards I already had and didn't need more of (which was frequent).

Glad these are back!

Woohoo!

Welcome back!

This was rough! The simple addition of that 2 extra fight on Henchmen and Villains really makes a huge difference...

Golden Solo Ruleset
Good Wins!
Points: 33(victory pile) - 12 (scheme twists) - 10 (escapees) - 16 (carried off bystanders) = -5 A Pyrrhic victory!

14 non-grey heroes in the KO pile

Final deck:

Base Cards
Shield Trooper x 4
Shield Agent x 4
Shield Officer x 3
Sidekick x 2

Spider-Man
Great Responsibility x 1 (not sure how he snuck in here...)

Daredevil
Radar Sense x 1
Backflip x 1
(I wanted more DD in my deck, but he must have been off battling the Kingpin elsewhere, cause this was all that showed up)

Nick Fury
Battlefield Promotion x 1

Wolverine
Healing Factor x 3
Frenzied Slashing x 1

Captain America
Perfect Teamwork x 4

Tried this out and got my butt kicked. I hadn't even defeated Dr Doom once before 16 heroes stacked up in the KO pile. I will have to give this another go.

Thanks for the challenge!

Only 1 non gray hero escaped. I got lucky with a 6 buy hand and got the Nick Fury Legendary Commander turn one. That carried the game along with my friends daredevil deck. Look forward to the next challenge!

Two player Final Blow

Good wins!

Player 1 15 (3xMM tactics)
Player 2 25

The Nega Bomb pile had only two bystanders left and four STs, with nine KO'd non grey heroes the last four hands were a little nerve wracking and letting one more villain escape making it ten on the last two hands was a risk for sure but it paid off as the MM was hit twice to end the game. We lost Wolverine's rare straight away, acquired Nick Fury's but never got to play it, while Captain America's and Daredevil's rare cards sat in the HQ out of reach, to see so many was a rare thing in itself.

Good game, looking forward to the challenge of Civil War!

Played using Golden Solo Rules.

Good won! Final score: 19 (from a 43 base score...ouch)

Total non-gray heroes KO'd: 13

Very, very close game. The boosted villains were kicking my butt for most of the game. The double villain draw for GSR is especially harsh when each villain escaping kicks you one step closer to defeat. I finally turned the tide when Wolverine's Berserker Rage came up, and I was able to draw a ton of cards, buy it, and then draw it thanks to Daredevil's Backflip. From then on I was drawing through about 75% of my deck every turn using all of my Wolverine cards, usually picking up enough cards to get in a hit on Doom and kill one or two of the villains in the city.

5 Players
Good Won!

Me: 29
She: 16
Nick: 11
Other Nick: 6
Shandra: 13

I do have to say that since we were playing this with five players at a game party with two brand new players and one almost-new player, we did not give the villains in the city the +2 bonus, and we played with our usual 5-player house rule that no villain card is flipped on the first round. That said, it was a pretty close and exciting game. But long. 5-player games in noisy rooms with new players can be a bit exhausting.

Count this as you will for your records. Amy and I may tackle this one again by ourselves playing by your rules at some point. We'll see.
