Since about yesterday, I always have to login again when re-starting the browser. That wasn't the case for the past 10 years.

Two possible reasons I see:
-) Any change to BGG that forces a new login with a new browser session?
-) I upgraded to Firefox 48

Any help on how to stay logged in, at least for a few days at a time?

No problem here with Firefox 48.

Maybe you are using private browsing mode?
Or you configured in the Privacy preferences tab to never remember history? (which is essentially always using private browsing mode)

But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you… And I will beat you.

Didn't change any configs. And I don't use private browsing by default.

Solved.
So far, I could stay logged in even with "cookies allowed for session".
Now I changed that to "allow", and I can stay logged in. I don't know what changed, but at least I know how to fix it.

"Allowed for session" means deleted between sessions (when you close the browser). So, you were deleting all the login cookies when the browser closed. "Allow" means the cookies are preserved across sessions, so you can stay logged in forever (on BGG--some sites have a time limit on cookies).

I checked: BGG login cookies do have an expiration date. You'd have to check your own cookies to see what yours is.

Whenever I hit the back button, it brings me to the not logged in front page.

I click on Earnie and it brings me back to logged in status.

I'm not seeing that behavior.
