It wasn't on his to do list a couple of months ago but with all the new sci-fi versions coming out I was wondering how the possibility is of a sci-fi KDM coming out. Did Poots ever say something about this or are the promo minis just that- promos? I think we have 3 now: Sci-Fi Twilight Knight, White Speaker and Flower Knight, right?

So far just promos, and they're likely to stay that way.

The Sci-Fi Flower Knight is resin, and potential game content is only plastic stuff. And the two plastic minis have been released a year apart, just as GenCon specials.

He listed out tons of projects he would be looking into doing in the existing universe, but an entire game with a sci-fi spin is unlikely. There's been zero word on that, and it doesn't fit his current MO

Yeah... think it's just a fun little set. I've considered some house rules now that it's more than a single, but more likely they'll just be a few fun display pieces.

I've always thought of KD has being timeless in a way. After all in 25 years you bring a civilization from the stone age to the iron age with steel tools gotten from other powers.

Perhaps a time warp where the twilight order still fights with the white speaker conclave with laser swords and blood guns. Where nature itself protects it's domain with flower samurai in power armor.

I doubt there are any serious plans now, but Poots has said he wants to diversify. Maybe todays display pieces will be tomorrows game pieces.

Maybe in Sci-fi KDM, colonists from a distant star have crash-landed onto the KDM world on the Plain of Faces (replace Lantern Hoard with crashed space ship). They've woken up from cryogenic slumber with their memories erased and, while they have access to various bits of technology, their mysterious ship's computer seems to have an agenda of its own and releases information/resources/technology to them sparingly. The Final Battle ends up being whatever the ship's computer was hiding, which was the actual real purpose of their Mission (and not a colonization as they were led to believe).

Cool storyline!

All of that is highly unlikely but thinking about it instead of a full sci-fi conversion it could be just an expansion with these minis coming out.

Cool direction for a variant.

Personally, I thought it'd be fun to work on a new monster: right now, we've got a human-sized character and two examples of armor, plus some weapons. I've already worked a bit on a variant butcher, think it would be fun to try to tackle a variant flower knight.
