I have a guy at our RPG group that was asking for some game recommendations. I had some but wanted to double check here to see if anyone had others.

He is wanting a fantasy genre but something rules light. I had suggested Castle panic and small world off the top of my head. I warned him Small World might be in the upper range of "rules light". I think he is meaning casual. He wants something that can be learned quickly and easily played.

What are some others people might have?

There is a road, no simple highway, between the dawn and the dark of night, and if you go no one may follow, that path is for your steps alone. Ripple in still water, when there is no pebble tossed, nor wind to blow.

To seek the sacred river Alph, to walk the caves of ice, to break my fast on honey dew and drink the milk of paradise... I had heard the whispered tales of immortality, the deepest mystery, from an ancient book I took a clue.

There's no simple explanation for anything important any of us do, and yeah the human tragedy consists of the necessity of living with the consequences, under pressure, under pressure. -Courage (For Hugh Maclennan): The Tragically Hip

Go with Small World imo, it's pimpin' and the rules are very light.

I don't think you'll find a fantasy game as light ass Small World that has any depth or replayability.

Cyclades is pretty light on rules and an excellent game, but it's Greek mythology. There is a Kraken, Pegasus other monsters and Gods.

.... Eight-Minute Empire: Legends mebbes?

I would recommend Dragonwood if a light game is a must. I can teach this game in minutes and have had a lot of fun playing it.
You compete to to slay (or capture as I think the rule book puts it) the most creatures; ogres, wolves, dragons etc. You collect numbered cards, then play them for three types of attack depending on whether you play a set of the same number, colour, or a run of numbers. the amount of cards you play is the amount of dice you roll, if the dice matches or beats the number on the monster for that attack type, you beat the monster and keep it.
the artwork is lovely, and gameplay is fun push your luck with a bit of strategy. always some fun to be had from lucky/unlucky dice rolls, and making fun of the goofy monster names.

Cthulhu Wars can be learned in around 5 to 10 minutes and plays in 60 to 90 minutes.

Choke full of monsters to play with that have been made at the 28mm scale specifically for the purpose of making them compatible with other miniature games... so perfect for D&D and such things.
