Baa'beel is going to be one the new games that Meridiano 6 is going to publish this year. It's is city building game game for two or four players in a fantasy setting.

Let's take a look:

A brief history of Baa'beel

Ah, Baa'beel, Baa'beel... Such a beautiful city! Reduced to rubble so many times, but always rising from the ashes once again, even more beautiful and grand. A new era is coming. This time, our gut feeling tells us it will endure over time...

Baa'beel is a marvellous city located right in the best possible place for building one. Or at least that is what the famous engineers, the Merrin & Perrin brothers would have us believe. It has a great climate, lush fields, a beautiful rushing river, green forests, an inexhaustible granite mine, the best muddy swamps... and it is all located in an enclave which separates the borders of the four civilizations with the largest known populations in the world: humans, elves, dwarves and orcs. What more could you want? It sits on the ruins of the ancient city of Baa'beel, which itself stood on the previous city of Baa'beel, and so on, ruins upon ruins, layer after layer, reaching deep down to where some ancient urns have been found together with hieroglyphs from when the dragons were commonplace and much, much bigger.

But that's enough about the past. The wise men have decided to follow the instructions of the famous engineers. There have been a few voices of discontent, pointing out that maybe the fact the city has already been destroyed ten times could be an indication that the location might not be the most suitable. However, despite this, it seems the gods have chosen once again to build the city on the same site. A foundation stone has been placed in the centre of what will be the main square in town and word has been sent to all and sundry so that the potential residents, regardless of their race and background, are invited to relocate to the new neighbourhoods which are being built. Harmony!! That's the key, and that is what we are told Baa'beel means in ancient elf language (in modern elvish it is written 'Bbl'). Many people expect the old quarrels between elves and dwarves, dwarves and orcs, orcs and humans, and humans and elves to rear their ugly head. We always remind them of our key word: Harmony!!

The wise men have chosen you... yes you, to be the person to sort all this mess out. They are very busy acquiring wisdom and making complicated decisions which affect those of us who are less wise. So you must be the person who builds the homes, monuments, parks... And of course, the person who oversees the relocation of the inhabitants as they arrive. But don't fret, you won't be alone on this admirable mission. Wisely, they have sought out another volunteer who you will have to share the work with. Both of you are competing for the post of new governor of the city. If you are lucky and you do your job well, that person will be you. Don't let this amazing opportunity pass you by.

Who wants to move to Baa'beel?

Orcs

Large, green, noisy and smelly.

They love looting, the marshes, barbecues and chewing with their mouth open.

They can't stand the sight of hand soap and, of course, dwarves.

Humans

They come in different skin colours and are medium-sized. They wear hundreds of different hairstyles.

They love crocheting, conspiracies, ordering takeaways and going to the hairdresser's.

They hate having to queue for things and they detest the orcs.

Elves

Sophisticated, elegant and always singing.

They love being dramatic, playing their harps, and going on about how everything used to be better in the past.

They detest humans and bonfires.

Dwarves

Tiny, bearded, noisy and lactose intolerant.

They love strong beer, digging too deep and hammering things while cursing.

They hate elves and aren't too keen on anyone else either.

Monsters

Fearsome and cerulean.

They love moving furniture around in the middle of the night and dragging suspiciously shaped bags around. Their dictionary features more than 100 meanings for the words “UUuuu” and “Aaaarrrrggg”.

They hate the sunlight and prejudice.

How to play?

The players take turns in which they must add new cards to the city Baa'beel, constructing new buildings (homes and other buildings) and green areas.

When a player adds a new card to the map, the opponent can choose any house which still has space available (the homes can house a variable number of inhabitants) and move in up to two new residents which belong to their colour.

And although Baa'beel is a city based on harmony and peace, the new inhabitants won't let sleeping dogs lie. When a new resident moves into a new home, as a result of the underlying tension, one of their neighbours will not be able to put up with it and will have to leave. This means that when an orc moves into a new home, a human from one of the neighbouring houses will have to uproot. When a human moves in, an elf will move out. An elf forces a dwarf to up sticks, and a dwarf forces an orc out. The monsters, in their particular case, can make anybody pack their bags, but nobody can force them to move out:

It's important to make clear that this eviction occurs regardless of the colour of the races involved, so a player should therefore be careful not to force out residents of their own colour.

At the end of the game, each player who controls a house adds the points that house is worth to their points total. In addition, there are buildings which are not houses but which award points to those who control the most houses next to them.

The person with the most points will be proclaimed the new governor!

Baa'beel: Welcome to the neighbourhood will be on Kickstarter in a few months!

Hi all!

here you are a rendered picture with game components.

You can see the city deck with all the possible buildings to construct in Baabeel (each game the deck is different and not all the buildings are build!). Also there are the game coins, the character tiles and a few cards that are already in the Baabeel map.

Regards!
