1......can 88's benefit from a foxholes modifier

2..... Eg 1941, Imagine if a T34 moves adjacent to a German rifle unit.
Is there any way the German unit can Attack the tank eg Op fire, SATW etc. Or will the tank simply carry on past the German unit unscathed?
From what I read, there seems nothing the infantry unit can do to halt the tank, unlike op firing against an enemy infantry unit.
There is no "Op Fire Close Assault".

I believe that, a German unit can opfire with a Panzerfaust, if available.

If it moves adjacent, then you may do 'Final Op Fire' I do not have the rules handy, but check under the relevant section and it should make it clear.

88s can be placed in foxholes, which I believe represent any kind of "improved position".

I agree; I don't believe infantry can normally fire vs an adjacent (or farther away) tank. 17.9 says infantry can only attack tanks via Close Assault (in the same hex) and via Special Weapons (not necessarily in the same hex).

Surely infantry can throw a grenade or two when a tank passes by?

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Surely, they can, but the grenade will do nothing to the outside of the tank.

Grenade bundles were sometimes used against tanks, but they were only really successful if they could be jammed into a space that could magnify the blast or put in a vulnerable spot. Tossing a grenade 40 yards at a moving tank was not an effective tactic.

One more thing...I know the Panzerfaust was mentioned, but don't miss the fact that it is not available in 1941.

Re: 2 questions - help needed please
Please consider editing your first post so you can change the title to something more specific to this question. It really makes it easier to find Q&A if the titles in the Rules section are specific

My understanding is that you need to edit the very first comment in this thread and change what appears in the "subject" box. That will change the title of the thread.

Never tried it myself though, that's just what I've read how it works.

Simply edit your original post, then edit in the "Subject" box and save when done.
E.g. change it to:

"88s in foxholes? Infantry op fire vs tank?"

or something explicitly clear like that, instead of the completely generic vague "2 questions - help needed please".

The Germans (and most nationalities) would have had anti-tank rifles in 1941, it's just that there is no counter for them. You can always use the Panzerschreck counters before 1943 to represent those guys.

They had their own ATRs and those captured from the Russians and Poles.
