I'm trying to come up with a name for my game that conveys the theme as clearly as possible. So, without giving any more info, if a game was called "Monte Carlo 500" what do you think it would be about?

Car racing? I have no idea if there's a racetrack in Monte Carlo. But that's what the '500' makes me think.

It would sound like a race car game.

It may also be a number of troops going into battle kind of like the movie 300.

It's definitely evocative of automotive racing, but not of what type. As far as I know, the "Monte Carlo 500" is not a thing. The distance of the race being at the end of the name is an American racing convection, signalling an Indy Car or Nascar race (i.e. Indy 500 or Daytona 500), while the Monaco Grand Prix (Monte Carlo is in Monaco) is a Formula 1 race.

Motor Racing.

Or possibly gambling in a casino.

(Less serious suggestions)

Something to do with the Monte Carlo method.

A famous last stand where 500 men defend Monaco for a week against overwhelming odds?

Commuting by electric bike?

It's clearly a game about Monte Carlo simulations, capped at 500 iterations to make it "playable".

I hadn't read this when I posted. Good to see I'm not alone

I'd forgotten about that, I was thinking of the Monaco Grand Prix.

I would think somebody has got silly, and brought klunky NASCAR cars to shudder and shimmy down the streets of Monaco, where F1 reigns supreme.

The Monte Carlo rally. Perhaps the 500 refers to cc, but it's definitely a racing game.

Oddball thought, I guess, but I feel like it's a race to make the most money at the casinos there (most likely a the roulette table) with everyone starting with $500.

I'd have to guess that it's a gambling game. My first thought was racing because of the 500 in the title, but the Grand Prix isn't anywhere near 500 miles or kilometers, and the race is named Monaco, not Monte Carlo. So: Monte Carlo 500 says "gambling game" to me.

wow everyone is soooo off base here its obviously a 3-player sci-fy legacy game about the trials of monte and carlo, two clones of twins that are sent off to the distant corners of space to explore. The third player plays the mysterious alien race out to stop them by killing them over and over. Monte and carlo only have 500 preformed bodies between them.

Following the fall of the Roman Empire in 476 and then the death of Odoacer in 493, the Monaco coast is suddenly without a ruler. In a few short years, rebuild Monaco into it's own state capable of withstanding the inevitable invasion of the Byzantines, and make Monte Carlo a capital city envied throughout the Mediterranean.

(But car racing was my serious first impression)

As a motorsport fan I'm obviously biased, but to me this name would immediately sound like something related to racing even though I'm aware there's no such thing as a "Monte Carlo 500" race. Well, we had an Indianapolis Grand Prix in the past, so why not a Monte Carlo 500 Indycar event?

Thanks guys. Well it is actually a casino/gambling themed game. There is already a game called Monte Carlo, so I added the 500 as the goal is to win $500.
I also did an initial Monte Carlo analysis to get estimates for car values.

But, since most people thought racing (which is what I expected/feared) I better think of another name. Are there any other famous casino towns besides Vegas?

I'd say you should avoid naming your gambling game after a real town, because you're only going to come across naming conflicts/confusion at this point no matter how clever you get. Maybe come up with something catchier, or make up your own casino name.

Calling it something like "Dazzab's Casino" would get the idea across.

I think if you just change the 500 to something else you'd be fine. Wether its simply a different amount or something completely different, taking out the connection to "indy 500" I think will be enough to solve your problem

Macao (Sorry that doesn't help)

Also, Atlantic City, but don't do that to your game.
