So one translation I read said:
The Austrian Immigrant allows, for each coin paid, to displace a single villager..

The overview description says
This character gives the option to move a not married villager

So when the translation says a "single villager", is it really referring to a non-married villager or simply a single as in 1 villager?

I can see where the meaning of "single" can get lost in translation

I believe it means unmarried. The German text "einen nicht verheirateten Dorfbewohner" translates to "an unmarried villagers" in Google translate.
