Subject: Action selection with no action done twice rss

Hi everyone,

Following situation:
Action selection -> players have the choice between around 8 different actions. After a player executes an action, the turn goes to the next player who can execute an action.
Now: Every player can execute every action only once, but the order is not important (they can also skip and leave the current round -> get first player marker etc.) -> so Player 1 choses action 5 first, Player 2 choses action 1, Player 3 choses action 3, Player 1 also choses action 3... and so on...

How can I keep track of this? Without going into extensive use of components.

Ideas that came to mind were give everyone 8 cards which represent the 8 different actions and they have to discard the corresponding one.

Do I oversee an easy solution? Are there any games that already do that and found an elegant way?

Thank you already so much for any input laugh

Each player gets 8 small cubes of their color. Place cube on action card when used.

The card method you describe is a common solution, and is easy to understand. Another approach might be to have the 8 actions laid out on a board or set of cards, and give each player 8 tokens (cubes?) in their color to place on each of the spaces.

But the great thing about using cards is that each player has the different instructions in front of them that they can easily study. As soon as its on a shared board, it will be upside down to some players.

If the actions are represented by icons and no text, maybe that's not so important.

I think there's quite a few games that do it. They typically have in one of the actions a 'Refresh' that lets you get all your actions back. For example Mission: Red Planet.

your 8 card solution is the simplest cheapest and best solution to be honest.
the other one that may be good too is just to have a card with actions on it and then 8 chipboard tokens placed in each action's field.
