This is a strange little card that I honestly can't think of a good use for. Ideally, you'd want a 5 point one-use weapon upgrade, so you save a point on just having it normally whilst also keeping it a secret, but I can't think of any that fit the bill.

Bonus points for builds that adhere to "penalty pure" rules.

Yeah, the Romulans don't have anything of their own, but Khan or Soval could let you use it in penalty pure with Antimatter Mines or Barrage of Fire. It's a shame Prototype Weapon is Xindi-only; that'd be a hell of a surprise.

Weapon Ports isn't a discard, but by cleaning itself up after use it doesn't cost you a defense die, and unless your opponent is spamming fighters, you probably didn't need to use it more than once anyways.

Evan hit most of the nails on the head.

Weapons ports is ideal since you really only need to use it once unless facing a carrier fleet.

Mines are also ideal. Antimatter in particular.

Ramming attack would be a fun card to put under it as a surprise.

The trick here is to use something unexpected. This is a card for playing the game like poker, not for minmaxing a fleet.

Antimatter mines would be fantastic, as everyone is usually looking for cloaked mines. But no one expects AM anymore. So when they see your hidden card is a weapon and not tech, they'll probably let their guard down.

Combined with a movement booster like Picard Manuever, so you can jump behind (or into) their fleet, and it'd be a great surprise.
