In our games, we just come to a decision as a group since it's a fully co-op game.

The group majority decides. Mental illness doesn't grant pyromancy.

Actually, if there's a disagreement in the group you're supposed to randomly choose a player to make the decision. It seems like this is specifically so an insane player still gets a chance to impart their will against the group. You can see this rule in the Conflicts section of the Reference Guide.

*Spoiler* Actually, if you look at the Insanity cards, you'll find it does.

Huh, just goes to adjacent spaces doesn't it?

*An* adjacent space. ie. only one of them, not all all adjacent spacs. The question is 'who decides'?

On the few solo runs I've played I determined it randomly just for fun but in group games where we're playing to win we place it on the most convenient space for us.

Yeah, it just spreads to one new space total per turn. It seems quite weak & exploitable, in that you can just spread it away from important areas into empty rooms, or even into the path of incoming monsters.

I'm not sure what the alternative might be though. All I can suggest...

The app knows little of the board state beyond room names... I guess it could force you to grow the fire *towards* a random room (as I've seen similar events that push you *towards* a particular room)

But since they're unlikely to change tha app to do that, maybe you could choose a random room to grow the fire towards yourself? Number the rooms and roll a D8/D12/whatever.

Someone elsewhere mentioned trying spreading to all adjacent spaces. Seems to me a nasty end would soon follow!!!

Small wonder I struggled to put out a fire in my 2 player investigator game. Was spreading it to adjacent spaces and running around like a headless chicken trying to stamp out the fire.

Page 2 of the Rules Reference says:

"It is possible for a game effect to have more than one possible outcome. In such a case, investigators as a group determine the outcome of that effect."

Your question seems to fit into this category.

That's pyromania, not pyromancy. Still cool
