My wife and I just saw Cirque du Soleil KURIOS. I thought the athleticism was down a notch, but the design was great - and my wife loved the Steampunk aesthetic.

So, any recommendations for Steampunk themed games? I know of Incredible Expeditions and Mission: Red Planet - stretching it, maybe Oceanos. Clearly, I need help!

What do you like about the steampunk aesthetic? Or your wife.

Might help narrow down what you'd like.

I'd settle for a list of steampunk themed games.

I think my wife is drawn primarily to the look, and maybe somewhat to the concept of an alternative technologic history. I also think she's intrigued because she hasn't seen/noticed steampunk much before. The individual characters should be the focus, not a grande world scale; nor should combat be the major thrust of the game.

Good (or at least playable) for two-players would also be a big benefit; and not too heavy.

While it looks great, I don't think Scythe is the answer.

I think Mission: Red Planet is a terrific game with an awesome look but I'm not sure it's a match for two players.

Spyrium is quite good too with a darker steampunk art style but I think that most of the interest of the game's mechanisms might be lost.

Two games, both co-op. The first one is pretty dark, and may be hard to find, but it just drips with the theme.

Machina Arcana

The Undercity: An Iron Kingdoms Adventure Board Game

Edit - just re-read your post and these may not fit the bill, as they rely heavily on combat.

That's what I was looking for! Although, not as many interesting titles as I would have hoped.

I didn't know there were "Family" pages.

I think I'll try Steam Works - but am still open to suggestions.

There is Planet Steam which is a pretty cool game though I think the 'tanks' look more like Daleks. The game Trickerion: Legends of Illusion isn't quite steam punk but has great artwork with the same aesthetic and 'era' I think.

There must have been a moment at the beginning, where we could have said no. Somehow we missed it. Well, we'll know better next time.

Steam Torpedo: First Contact is 2-player.
They had a ton of these at the Barnes & Noble red dot clearance sale, which just went down to $2 last Friday, so you might get lucky at your local B&N. (Not a bad discount, a $30 game!) These clearance copies will be flooding the market so it should be readily available on marketplace, math trades, etc.

I picked up a copy, haven't played it yet, but it looks like it might be fun - a 2-player tactical submarine warfare game. Interesting premise, WWI lasted way longer than 4 years, UK used chemical warfare on Germany, but the winds blew it west towards France, so France & Germany allied against the UK in response... and submarine warfare has become a dominant mode of warfare (can't remember why)...
