Greetings from the Philippines.
Our gaming group so far.
VC = 3 wins
NVA = 1 win

I won for the first time playing US.
It was an intense back & forth battle the first
two rounds.
NVA was set back because of air strikes & events.
The US & ARVN hunted VC everywhere.
I think it was a mistake on the NVA player that she
infiltrated 2 VC bases.

We were shocked because there was an event that gave VC
a base in Saigon & a guerilla.
NVA triggered an event that causes 3 cities to shift to opposition
in exchange for 8 VC resources.
The next opportunity, VC recruited 7 more guerillas!
US swept into Saigon with airlift.
VC rallied to flip underground.
ARVN swept into Saigon.
US assault, and no more VC in Saigon.
Whew!

I used Amphib Landing as US to eliminate all VC
in a coastal jungle space beside Saigon.

Third coup card, I pulled out 10 troops.
Had a lot of support so score was at +12.

Fourth round, pivotal event of NVA.
NVA score was at +6.
Saigon was conquered because of that.
NVA did terror in Saigon. We were both +6.

Fourth coup card appeared, I pacified for a final score
of +8 beating the NVA.

Yey! My first win.
Really love this game.

Excited for my copy of Falling Sky to arrive.

Well, given that the USA did not "win" the war in Vietnam, what have you expected all along?

Great! Now play a game with the designer's variants and give them some feedback: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1458735/us-variant-mark-and...

By the game's standard for US victory, it seems like the US was doing pretty well by 1972. Of course it didn't last..

Read Lewis Sorley "A Better War" for an excellent analysis of what happened between '72 and '75.
