It's not clear to me what this means. Are we basically saying all communications cards are now treated as if they are cards of the chosen role (until someone changes it again)?

Normally you pick one communications card.

Social Media is shuffled into the randomizer deck, and it's chosen as a communications card. But it is not a card with an associated character, it's a basic action. So if you choose this, you also choose a second communications card so you actually have a communications character shuffled into the deck.

Oh. I was reading 'select another communications role for this game' as part of what you do when taking the action. Ok. Thanks for the clarification!
